Brownies
Brownies are usually aged 7-11.
At the beginning they are called the Tweenies, as they are young Ladybirds that have moved up from Ladybirds and before they are enrolled they are called Tweenies, after several weeks in experiencing Brownies, they are enrolled in a short service during one of the Brownie meetings. After they are enrolled they are finally called Brownies. In Brownies, there are 4 groups that are called sixes, which contain 6 girls, called The Pixies, The Elves, The Fairies and The Gnomes. In this group there is a Sixer and a Seconder, these usually are the oldest girls in the group and the 4 other girls in the group are the new Brownies that have been enrolled from being the Tweenies. To the right, is a picture of a young Brownie guide, in her uniform, which you can read in my previous blog.

Guides
Guides are usually aged 12-15.
So as you can see above, once you are old enough to become a Guide, and you are a Brownie, you can be enrolled up into the Guides. With Guides, there are many ways in having a great time and experiencing new things, since they are an older aged group, they are able to go trips, sleepovers to the Girl Guide Cottage, go for hikes and earn badges for your favorite past-times. They also have the opportunities to go on trips abroad to various camps and events. They also have the opportunity to participate in home hospitality in foreign countries where they can really get to know the culture and way of life in that country. Many foreign groups visit us here in Ireland as well. To the right is the Irish Girl Guide Main Logo.
